HVS annually researches development costs of actual hotel construction budgets, industry reports, and uniform franchise offering circulars. This 2014/15 survey reports updated per-room development costs in the U.S. through the end of 2014.
Hi Matthew, the cost figures are not meant to add up because they represent the highs and lows of each cost category, and so no one hotel would have the highest or lowest or average cost for each category. So the cost figures are meant to be looked at category by category. I hope this provides some clarity - let me know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Suzanne Mellen

The per room development costs within the 2015 report do not add up going from left to right. Do you know why this is?
