Steve Rushmore, president and founder of HVS International, is pleased to announce the formation of HVS/MVest Investment Research - providing independent investment research on hotel, restaurant, and leisure stocks. Philippe Marleau, president and founder of MVest Management, will serve as director of the new venture. This alliance is aimed at serving the needs of both individual and professional investors seeking to invest in hotel, restaurant, and leisure companies via the public markets. This venture also brings together the industry expertise of HVS International and the securities-research expertise of MVest Management - to provide timely, accurate and independent equity research. "Our two-page company reports will be quantitative and will largely focus on the earnings power valuation of a company," explains Marleau. HVS International is a global consulting and services organization focused on the hotel, restaurant, timeshare, gaming, and leisure industries. Established in 1980, HVS performs more than 1,500 assignments per year for virtually every major industry participant. Philippe Marleau previously worked at Merrill Lynch as a Vice President in the gaming and lodging equity research team. During his tenure, the Merrill Lynch gaming and lodging team consistently ranked among the top three teams on Wall Street according to Institutional Investor magazine. Marleau has earned strong visibility and renown in the lodging and investment communities. He has been quoted in the London Financial Times, Canada's Globe and Mail, and other business publications, for his expertise in real estate and hotel investments. He has presented at numerous hotel investment conferences and has appeared on CNNfn. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in March 2000, Marleau covered real estate companies and REITs for more than two years with Scotia Capital, the capital markets division of Scotia Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from McGill University with a major in civil engineering and a minor in economics, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
