HVS Capital Corp (“HVSCC”) is pleased to announce that it has been engaged to administer the disposition of the Hotel Durant in Berkeley, CA. The 143-room, Hotel Durant is a historic, contemporary and boutique hotel adjacent to the University of California at Berkeley. It is within walking distance of the core of student housing, the newly- renovated football stadium and the basketball arena. There is a limited amount of lodging supply in Berkeley, high barriers-to-entry, and this hotel is the closest to the University. The full-service hotel is green-certified and has been designated a City of Berkeley Landmark.
According to Brian Holstein, Vice President of HVS Capital Corp, The Hotel Durant is a six-story reinforced concrete building complete with Spanish design. The exterior is finished in Italian Sienna shade stucco, and the stone ornaments are poly chromed in varied-colored effects. The property features a landmark local restaurant and bar, Henry’s Publick House, room service, 2,668 square feet of meeting and banquet space, a business center, valet parking and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access. The hotel was built in 1928 and underwent a comprehensive $7 million renovation in 2007.
The Hotel Durant is being offered for sale unencumbered by management with an opportunity to expand the key count to more than 200 rooms, and to brand the hotel as a buyer would see fit.
