HVS India, a fully integrated global consulting firm focused on hospitality, is pleased to announce the finalists for the fifth ‘Hotels of the Year Awards 2013’. Instituted in 2009, the awards were conceptualized to acknowledge outstanding new hotel developments in the South Asian region in the past year. The winners for this year will be announced at the 9th Hotel Investment Conference - South Asia (HICSA) to be held on 3-4 April 2013 at Grand Hyatt Mumbai.
37 nominations were received this year and HVS India is pleased to share the names of the finalists across the following five categories: Luxury/Upper Upscale Segment; Upscale Segment; Mid Market Segment; Budget Segment and Small Hotel Segment. The list of finalists was derived by an esteemed panel of six judges using a detailed point-based analysis model of each hotel’s ranking across various criteria. Like every year, the winners will now be selected by HICSA delegates via an online voting system, which will go LIVE starting 15 March 2013 till 3 April 2013. The names of the winning hotels shall be announced on DAY 1 of the conference as part of the scheduled programme.
Referring to the fifth Hotels of the Year Awards, Manav Thadani, Chairman – South Asia, HVS said, “The HICSA ‘Hotels of the Year Awards’ has evolved over the years to become a recognized and coveted platform that honors the most outstanding hotel developments in the South Asian region. It has yet again endeavored to honour the best hotel products our industry has to offer, across categories. What’s interesting to note this year, is that for the first time ever, Indian hotel chains have a marked presence in the nominations especially in the budget and mid market segments. This validates the fact that home-grown brands are competing neck-to-neck with the international players to gain a share of the Indian hotel market, clearly aiming at the domestic clientele.”
