Mark Earle
Managing Director
Development Services and Hotel & Shared Ownership Consulting

Marks holds the position of Managing Director of HVS Development Services and Hotel and Shared Ownership Consulting, which assists vacation ownership developers with business growth through such means as strategic alliances, acquisitions, conversions, partnering, and branding. Formerly with HVS Capital Corp., a division of HVS and a leading worldwide hospitality investment banking and advisory firm, Mark assisted developers, investors, and owners of hospitality assets in financing, investment sales, and capital advisory.

Career Summary

Mark has more than 26 years of hospitality industry experience and is regarded by many of the industry's most influential leaders as a creative deal maker. Mark's business contacts are exhaustive. In his 22 years with Marriott International, he successfully tackled numerous development assignments with emphasis on international and domestic full-service and luxury hotel, resort, and fractional ownership projects.

As Vice President of Resort Development for Marriott International's fractional ownership division, Mark developed projects generating $2 billion in total sales, including the award-winning landmark Custom House conversion in Boston. He was also instrumental in launching the Ritz-Carlton Club development pipeline and producing its inaugural project in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Prior to the fractional ownership assignment, he spearheaded Marriott International's franchise presence in the United Kingdom by generating a 12-deal pipeline of hotels, working from Marriott's London office.

Earlier, as a Marriott full- and limited-service hotel developer, he produced 26 new hotels with 6,100 rooms and negotiated management contracts for hotels that were valued at more than $50 million. As Director of Hotel Business Planning, Mark conducted comprehensive market analyses, feasibility studies, and business plans for 22 hotels totaling 6,850 rooms, including Marriott's pivotal Marquis Hotel in New York Times Square and Palm Springs' famous Desert Springs Resort. In his earlier Marriott years, he worked in Marriott's restaurant division under Richard Marriott and produced several company "firsts", including a first limited-service college feeding program, a first walk-up urban fast-food restaurant, a first university student union fast-food outlet, and several of the first drive-through restaurants.

Mark has a Masters Degree from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, where he studied under a full fellowship as a graduate teaching assistant in psychology and as an assistant to the Admissions Director. His masters thesis was in the field of selecting high-potential leaders in the hospitality industry. Mark is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has spoken at ARDA conventions, Interval International's Timeshare Investment Conferences, and Florida International University's Florida Hotel Investment Conference. In addition, Mark has lectured at Cornell University and to the New England chapter of Cornell's Hotel Society. Mark is a member of several industry associations, including the American Resort Development Association, the Cornell Hotel Society, and the Cornell Real Estate Council.
