Donald C. Stephens Jr. is the Managing Director of HVS Orlando Consulting & Valuation. Donald is responsible for business line operations and business development of HVS’s Central Florida platform. Donald has been an active participant in the hotel industry for over 30 years as a real estate consultant, senior appraiser, and hotel advisory specialist.
Donald has completed real estate valuations and consulting assignments with a focus on hotels, motels, resorts, golf courses, and hospitality driven mixed-use developments. Donald’s appraisal and consulting career began in Canada in 1985. Donald has provided appraisal valuations and consulting services to the financial lending community, institutional clients, government agencies, corporate entities, legal and accounting professionals, developers and private individuals.
Donald has extensive experience providing market demand studies and feasibility analysis for proposed hotel development, highest and best use analysis, litigation support, portfolio analysis, and consulting services on a broad range of commercial property types. He has conducted appraisals and investment counseling for the purpose of sale/purchase, financing, insurance, estate valuations, purchase price allocation, and corporate planning.
He has a range of geographical experience and has appraised properties in over 18 U.S. states, the Carribbean, Central America, and the Atlantic Provinces of Eastern Canada. Donald has appraisal experience in Florida, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. In Canada, Donald has appraisal experience in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and New Brunswick. Donald has recently appraised proposed hotels in the Bahamas, Bocas del Toro, Panama, Barbados, St. Kitts, and in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Donald entered the Candidate for Designation program with the Appraisal Institute in January 2014 and has been an Associate Member of the Appraisal Institute since 2004.
