On August 6, 2024, the Hotel Real Estate Society (HRES) in Washington, D.C., met to network and tour a local luxury hotel.

Tuesday night’s event was held at the Hotel Washington on 15th Street in Downtown D.C. Hotel staff members graciously provided the group with comprehensive tours of the hotel, which was extensively renovated in 2019. Highlights included viewing several suites and the food and beverage offerings, specifically the VUE rooftop bar, where the HRES group gathered to converse over a cool beverage before and after the tours. Attendees included folks from local hotel brands, REITS, architecture and design firms, and ownership, operator, and management companies.

Chelsey Leffet, HVS Managing Director and based in Washington, co-founded HRES in 2018. This casual networking group began as a way to connect with local hotel industry peers and professionals at area hotels. As education and market insights are a cornerstone of this group, HRES has held over 25 hotel tour events and educational seminars over the years within the District. HVS colleagues of Chelsey’s recently launched a New York City chapter of HRES given the group's successes in D.C.
